16" WQXGA 240 Hz gaming laptop

The HP OMEN 16 is a 16.0 inch gaming laptop built around an AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX processor with 16 cores and 32 threads reaching up to 5.3 GHz. An NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU with 8 GB graphics memory drives the 2560 x 1600 display at up to 240 Hz. The system ships with 16 GB DDR5 RAM and a 1 TB PCIe NVMe SSD running Windows 11 Pro.

Competitive gamers and creators needing high

The 240 Hz panel with 3 ms response and 500 nits brightness suits fast-paced shooters and colour-critical work. Users who require more than 16 GB memory or multiple SSD slots should check expandability before buying. The 6-cell 83 Wh battery supports mobile sessions, though heavy GPU loads will reduce unplugged time.

RTX 5070 8 GB GPU decides fit

The single specification that determines suitability is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU with 8 GB video memory. It sets the performance ceiling for modern titles at WQXGA resolution and dictates whether the laptop meets a buyer's frame-rate targets.

Questions about this item

How do I upgrade the 16 GB DDR5 memory and which slot is often missed?

The laptop supports up to 64 GB DDR5 across two SODIMM slots; the lower slot under the motherboard is the one people forget after upgrading the top slot only.

When will the 83 Wh battery need replacement under daily gaming loads?

Expect noticeable capacity loss after 2–3 years of heavy discharge cycles; the 6-cell polymer pack is user-replaceable once the bottom cover is removed.

At what GPU temperature does the RTX 5070 8 GB throttle during long sessions?

The GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU typically begins thermal throttling around 87 °C sustained, limited by the shared vapor-chamber cooling capacity.
