Tower gaming desktop

The HP OMEN Obelisk 875 is a tower gaming desktop built around an Intel Core i7-8700 processor with six cores reaching 4.6 GHz turbo. It pairs 16 GB of DDR4 memory at 2666 MHz with a 256 GB NVMe SSD and a 2 TB hard drive. An NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 with 8 GB GDDR6 provides dedicated graphics, and Windows 10 Home is pre-installed. A wired keyboard and mouse are included.

Buyers who need VR-ready performance

This system suits players who want VR-ready performance and fast load times from NVMe storage in a case that opens with a button press for internal access. The 500 W power supply and single 16 GB memory module leave limited headroom for major GPU upgrades or multi-GPU setups. Buyers who need more than 32 GB of RAM or a higher-wattage PSU for future graphics cards should look at something else.

8 GB GDDR6 video memory

The RTX 2080 card carries 8 GB of GDDR6 video memory, which determines the texture resolution and frame-buffer capacity available for modern titles at high settings. This single specification decides whether the desktop meets the graphical demands of your preferred games and VR applications.

Questions about this item

How do I open the Obelisk 875 case to add parts, and what step do people miss?

Press the release button on the side panel to swing it open; the step often missed is ensuring the panel clicks fully shut again so the safety switch engages and the system will power on.

Which memory slots are free for a future RAM upgrade on this i7-8700 system?

The board has four DDR4 slots and ships with one 16 GB module at 2666 MHz, leaving three slots open for up to 32 GB total.

What is the first limit reached during long gaming sessions with the 500 W supply and RTX 2080?

The 500 W power supply sets the ceiling; sustained loads from the 8 GB GDDR6 card and 6-core CPU can hit that limit before thermals become an issue.
