Targeted Slim Gaming Machine

The HP OMEN Slim 16 is a 16.0 inch gaming laptop built around an Intel Core Ultra 9 285H processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 GPU with 8GB GDDR7 memory. It ships with 32GB DDR5 SO-DIMM RAM and a 2TB PCIe NVMe SSD. The 144Hz IPS WUXGA display and Shadow Black chassis complete a portable platform for modern titles.

Buyer Fit Check

This unit suits players who want high refresh 16:10 visuals and a 5.4GHz turbo CPU in a 0.9 inch profile weighing 5.1lb. The 70 WHr battery and 150W PSU support mobile sessions. Buyers needing a touchscreen, a larger screen diagonal, or a heavier workstation chassis should look at other models in the range.

Deciding Specification

The GeForce RTX 5070 8GB GDDR7 dedicated graphics card is the single component that determines whether this laptop meets a given performance target. It drives the 1920x1200 144Hz panel and handles the GPU workload for gaming and creative applications.

Questions about this item

Will the 16.0 inch 1920x1200 144Hz IPS panel support an external monitor at a higher refresh rate?

The HDMI port and USB 3.2 Type-C connection can drive an external display; the achievable refresh rate depends on the monitor and cable used.

Is the 32GB DDR5 SO-DIMM memory upgradeable or soldered?

The system uses SO-DIMM modules, so the memory can be upgraded by replacing the installed sticks.

What is the real-world battery life for mixed work and light gaming on the 70 WHr battery?

The 4-cell 70 WHr pack powers the 16.0 inch 144Hz display and Ultra 9-285H processor; typical mixed use delivers several hours before the 150W adapter is needed.
