HP ProDesk 400 G1 SFF Desktop 8 GB 500 GB HDD 19 in Monitor Windows 10

Complete Desktop Kit

This HP ProDesk 400 G1 small-form-factor system arrives with a 19-inch LCD monitor, keyboard and mouse so it is ready to use straight from the box. It runs Windows 10 on an Intel Celeron dual-core processor at 2.80 GHz with 8 GB of RAM and a 500 GB hard drive. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 drives the included display via VGA or DVI. Wi-Fi, gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports handle everyday connectivity.

Upgrade Path

The board supports a maximum of 16 GB of memory, so adding another 8 GB module is the most direct performance gain for multitasking. Replacing the mechanical hard drive with a solid-state drive of the same 2.5-inch form factor will cut boot and application load times dramatically. The low-profile chassis and modest power supply limit graphics-card upgrades, so users needing discrete 3D performance should look at a tower-class workstation instead.

Capacity and Limits

Eight gigabytes of RAM and a 500 GB hard drive comfortably handle web browsing, office suites, video playback and light image editing. The integrated GPU and Celeron cores run out of steam with modern games, heavy video rendering or large data-set analysis. The 19-inch screen at its native resolution is adequate for single-window tasks but feels cramped for side-by-side documents or multi-monitor workflows.
