Compact 1U rack server for virtualised workloads

The HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 fits a dual-socket Xeon E5-2620 v3 configuration into a single rack unit, supplying 24 threads at 2.4 GHz and 8 GB of DDR4 ECC memory. Redundant 500 W hot-swap power supplies and the B140i controller with RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 keep services available in space-constrained data centres. Eight 2.5-inch SFF bays accept SATA or SAS drives for flexible capacity planning.

Suited to SME consolidation and edge deployments

Organisations virtualising moderate workloads, running file and print services, or hosting lightweight databases will find the core count and memory headroom adequate. Buyers who need hardware RAID acceleration or more than 8 GB of memory as shipped should evaluate other platforms. The Matrox G200 graphics with 16 MB video memory limits use to headless or remote-management scenarios only.

B140i software RAID is SATA-only

The integrated controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 across SATA drives but does not accelerate SAS arrays. If the storage plan relies on SAS disks with hardware parity offload, this server will not meet that requirement. An add-in controller would be necessary to enable hardware RAID on the SAS backplane.
