The HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 packs two Xeon E5-2643 v3 processors at 3.4 GHz into a single rack unit, giving 12 physical cores and 24 threads for virtualisation hosts, database nodes or high-frequency batch jobs that need consistent clock speed over core count. Redundant 500 W supplies and hot-swap drive bays keep the platform running during hardware swaps.

Memory ceiling and drive headroom

Eight gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory ship installed across the 24 DIMM slots, leaving ample room to scale toward the 3 TB platform maximum using 4 GB to 64 GB modules at up to 2400 MT/s. Two 600 GB 15 K SAS drives on the Smart HBA H240ar deliver low-latency spindle performance for OS and active data, while the four LFF bays accept additional 3.5-inch SAS or SATA disks for capacity growth.

SAS interface and RAID scope

The H240ar controller presents a 12 Gb SAS internal interface with 6 Gb SATA backward compatibility, so drive throughput tops out at the link speed of the installed media rather than the controller. Hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 are supported, but the card lacks cache-backed write acceleration, so sustained random-write workloads will hit the mechanical limits of the 15 K drives before saturating the bus.
