This platform suits buyers who need a compact, redundant server for virtualisation, file serving, or general compute with room to grow to two processors and 3 TB of DDR4. It does not suit workloads that require GPU acceleration, because the only graphics output is a Matrox G200 controller. Buyers who need hardware-accelerated graphics or compute should look at alternative platforms.

Single-CPU Configuration Limits Initial Memory

The installed CPU is a single Xeon E5-2620 v3, which populates one of two sockets and activates twelve of the twenty-four DIMM slots. With only one processor fitted, the practical memory ceiling is half the platform maximum until a second compatible CPU is added.
