A 1U rack server with an eight-core 2.6 GHz Xeon, 32 GB DDR4, two 1 TB SATA drives and dual 500 W redundant power supplies
The HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 packs a single Intel Xeon E5-2640v3 eight-core processor running at 2.6 GHz with 32 GB of DDR4 ECC memory into a 1U chassis. Eight small-form-factor drive bays provide internal capacity while redundant hot-swap power supplies keep the platform running during maintenance. It targets IT teams that need compute density for virtualisation, databases or web tiers in space-constrained racks.
Two 500 W hot-swap power modules share the load so a single failure does not interrupt service. The B140i software RAID controller manages the two installed 1 TB 7.2 K SATA drives in RAID 0, 1, 5 or 10 without a dedicated hardware card, reducing both component count and idle power draw. Fan speeds are governed by the integrated Lights-Out management engine to match thermal demand.
The onboard Matrox G200 controller delivers basic 2D console output for remote management sessions without consuming a PCIe slot. Twenty-four DDR4 DIMM slots — twelve per processor socket — remain partially populated, allowing memory to scale toward the 3 TB platform maximum when a second Xeon is added. Six additional SFF bays are available through optional media-bay or drive-cage kits.

Slide each drive into its tray until the latch clicks, then insert the tray into a bay until the lever locks; the step often missed is securing the latch fully so the drive seats on the backplane.
The two 500W redundant hot-swap power supplies are the first field-replaceable parts that typically wear out under sustained load.
The single 8-core 2.6GHz processor reaches its thermal ceiling before the 32GB DDR4 memory or the B140i SATA RAID controller become bottlenecks.
