1U rack server with twelve-core Xeon at 2.3 GHz, 48 GB DDR4, two 600 GB 15K SAS drives and redundant 500 W power
The HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 fits a single Intel Xeon E5-2670 v3 processor with twelve cores at 2.3 GHz and 48 GB of DDR4 ECC memory into a 1U chassis. It ships with two 600 GB 15K SAS drives on a Smart HBA H240ar controller and dual 500 W redundant power supplies. This configuration targets virtualisation hosts, database nodes or compute clusters where rack density matters.
Dual 500 W hot-swap supplies keep the system running if one unit fails, while the 1U airflow design moves heat across the processor and twenty-four DIMM slots. The 15K SAS drives deliver consistent random I/O for transactional workloads, and the H240ar controller maintains RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 or 60 without a battery-backed cache. Thermal throttling is managed by the integrated iLO 4 firmware under prolonged compute pressure.
Only one processor is installed and the board supports a maximum of two, so the highest core count reachable in this chassis is twenty-four. Memory is already at the 48 GB installed ceiling for this CPU, and the four LFF bays are half-populated with the supplied 600 GB drives. Buyers who need more than twelve physical cores or more than 48 GB per socket must add a second processor and populate additional DIMM slots.

Other versions of this model
The 1U form factor uses dual 500W redundant hot-swap power supplies and Intel C610 chipset thermal management; sustained load on the E5-2670 v3 will increase fan speed and exhaust heat, typical for dense rack servers.
The chassis provides 4 LFF 3.5-inch bays with the Smart HBA H240ar supporting 12Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA; additional drives require compatible LFF trays and SAS/SATA cables for the controller.
Yes, the server has 24 DDR4 slots (12 per processor) supporting 4GB to 64GB ECC registered modules up to 2400MT/s; actual speed depends on the installed Xeon E5-2670 v3 capability.
