1U rack server with a 12-core 2.3 GHz Xeon, 32 GB DDR4 and two 146 GB SAS drives on an H240ar RAID controller
The HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 occupies a single rack unit and ships with one Intel Xeon E5-2670v3 processor providing twelve cores at 2.3 GHz. Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed across the 24 DIMM slots. Two 146 GB 15K 6 Gbps 2.5-inch SAS drives and an H240ar controller handle storage. Dual 500 W hot-swap power supplies deliver redundancy.
The Smart HBA H240ar supports 12 Gbps SAS and 6 Gbps SATA with RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, letting the two 15 000 rpm drives operate in mirrored or striped arrays for throughput or redundancy. Eight small-form-factor bays remain available for expansion with additional SAS or SATA media. No operating system is included, so the administrator chooses the hypervisor or OS.
With one processor fitted the server uses twelve of the twenty-four DIMM slots and cannot exceed 32 GB total memory. Adding a second Xeon E5 v3 would unlock the remaining slots and raise the platform limit to 3 TB, but that requires a separate processor kit. The Matrox G200 graphics provides only basic management console output, not compute acceleration.

Other versions of this model
Populate the remaining empty slots with DDR4 ECC Registered modules up to 64 GB each; the board supports 2400 MT/s speeds limited by the Xeon E5-2670v3 processor.
The two 146 GB 15K SAS drives running at 6 Gbps set the practical ceiling for continuous read/write workloads.
Redundant 500 W hot-swap supplies share load, keeping fan speeds moderate; typical idle noise is low for a 1U rack unit.
