Questions about this item

What SAS speed does the P440 controller support, and what does that cap the drive throughput at?

The Smart Array P440 runs at 12 Gb/s on the controller side and 6 Gb/s on the drive side, so installed SAS drives are limited to 6 Gb/s maximum throughput.

What rack depth and mounting hardware are required to fit this 2U server?

The chassis is a standard 2U rack-mount unit; it needs a four-post rack with adjustable rails deep enough for the server length and the included sliding rail kit for secure mounting.

How are the two 1 TB SAS drives installed, and what step is often missed?

Drives slide into the front 2.5-inch SFF bays with their supplied trays; the step often missed is seating each tray firmly until the latch clicks to engage the backplane connector.
