Rack server with dual 12-core Xeon Gold 6136 CPUs, 256GB DDR4, two 1.2TB SAS drives and quad-port NIC
The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen10 is a 2U rackmount server built for business workloads such as virtualization, databases, backups, and application hosting. Dual Intel Xeon Gold 6136 processors each deliver 12 cores at 3.00GHz for dependable multi-threaded performance. 256GB of DDR4 memory supports multiple services and virtual machines simultaneously. This configuration targets data centres, server rooms, and growing IT environments needing dense compute.
Moving from a single-processor box or a platform with fewer than 12 cores per socket adds the headroom needed for heavier consolidation ratios and larger ERP instances. The jump is worth it when current hosts run near capacity during peak loads or when new workloads demand more simultaneous threads. With MAX Processors set to 2, this chassis cannot accept a third CPU, so future scaling beyond dual-socket must move to a different platform.
The 10-bay SFF front cage holds up to ten 2.5-inch SAS or SATA drives, providing 2x 1.2TB SAS units in this build. Other DL380 Gen10 variants support up to 24 SFF or 12 LFF hot-plug bays plus NVMe options, but this specific unit does not. RAID protection relies on a Smart Array controller not detailed here, and the 331FLR quad-port NIC supplies four Ethernet links for network segmentation or redundancy.

The chassis provides 10 hot-plug 2.5-inch bays for SAS or SATA drives.
Install both processors first, then populate the DIMM slots evenly across all memory channels for each CPU.
Replace SAS drives when SMART alerts indicate wear, and replace the NIC if port errors persist after firmware updates.
