HP ProLiant DL380 Gen10 server

This HP ProLiant DL380 Gen10 2U rackmount server system is built for business workloads such as file storage, virtualization, databases, backups and application hosting. It is intended for IT teams running production services in data centres, server rooms or lab environments. Buyers who only need a single-socket platform or a tower form factor should consider other options.

Dual Xeon Platinum 8160 with 256GB DDR4

Two Intel Xeon Platinum 8160 processors deliver 48 cores and 96 threads at 2.10GHz for dependable multi-threaded performance. The 256GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory supports multiple services and data-heavy applications. The chassis provides ten 2.5-inch SFF drive trays and four integrated 1Gbps RJ45 ports for direct network attachment. Dual redundant power supplies are installed.

Check rack space, drives and OS

Verify that your rack can accommodate a 2U unit and that you have suitable 2.5-inch drives, as none are included with the server. The system ships without an operating system, so plan for your own hypervisor or OS deployment. Ensure your power infrastructure can support dual redundant PSU connections. Memory can be expanded up to 3TB using DDR4 modules.

Questions about this item

What networking standard do the four integrated ports use, and what throughput does it cap at?

The four integrated RJ45 ports run at 1 Gbps each, so the practical ceiling for any single connection is 1 Gbps.

What physical space and mounting hardware does this 2U rackmount chassis require?

It occupies 2U of vertical space in a standard four-post rack and uses the included sliding rails for front-to-back mounting.

How are the processors and memory installed, and which step is commonly missed?

Both Xeon Platinum 8160 CPUs and the 256 GB DDR4 ECC registered DIMMs come pre-installed; the step often missed is seating each DIMM fully until the retention clips click.
