A 2U rack server with twelve 3.5-inch drive bays, single Xeon E5-2609 v3 at 1.9GHz, 4GB DDR4, H240ar RAID controller and dual 500W power supplies
This 2U rack server is built for data-centre workloads that need high local storage density. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processor running at 1.9GHz and 4GB of DDR4 ECC memory. The chassis provides twelve 3.5-inch large-form-factor drive bays and includes an HP Smart HBA H240ar controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Dual 500W redundant hot-swap power supplies are installed.
Buyers needing twelve 3.5-inch bays for SAS or SATA drives in a compact rack footprint will fit this platform. The single-socket configuration and 4GB base memory mean it is not ready for memory-intensive virtualisation or heavy compute clusters without adding a second processor and populating more of the twenty-four DIMM slots. The integrated Matrox G200eH2 graphics with 16MB video memory only covers basic console output, so workloads requiring GPU acceleration should look elsewhere.
The twelve front bays accept 3.5-inch SAS or SATA drives; no drives are included. The H240ar controller handles RAID internally, freeing the CPU from parity calculations. Twenty-four DDR4 registered ECC slots support up to 3TB total when both processor sockets are filled, though actual speed depends on the installed CPUs. An operating system must be supplied separately. The redundant power supplies and hot-swap design simplify maintenance in a live rack environment.

The server accepts 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB or 64GB DDR4 ECC Registered modules up to 2400MT/s, with actual speed limited by the installed Xeon E5-2609 v3 processor.
The H240ar supports both 12Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA simultaneously, allowing mixed drive types across the 12 LFF bays while providing RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60.
Check the front-panel power-supply LEDs: both should show steady green, and the Integrated Management Log will report each supply as present and healthy with no fault entries.
