2U rack server with dual Xeon E5-2609 v3 CPUs, 32 GB DDR4, H240ar RAID and eight SFF bays
The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processors running at 1.9 GHz and 32 GB of DDR4 memory. It targets organisations that need a reliable dual-socket platform for virtualisation, database or general compute workloads in a standard rack enclosure. The server ships without an operating system, allowing the buyer to install their preferred hypervisor or OS.
Two 500 W hot-swap redundant power supplies keep the system running if one unit fails, which is critical during continuous operation. The Smart HBA H240ar controller provides hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across 12 Gb SAS and 6 Gb SATA links, maintaining consistent throughput for mixed read and write patterns. Memory runs at up to 2400 MT/s depending on the installed processors, and the 24 DIMM slots allow expansion to the platform maximum of 3 TB.
Verify that your rack can accommodate a 2U chassis and that you have suitable rails for the DL380 Gen9 form factor. The unit includes eight 2.5-inch SFF drive trays with screws but no drives, so confirm you have compatible SAS or SATA SSDs or HDDs for the desired RAID layout. Additional storage options such as NVMe bays or extra SFF cages occupy specific internal bays and may require separate kits. The Matrox G200eH2 graphics adapter provides only basic video output with 16 MB memory.

Other versions of this model
The server ships with two 500 W hot-swap power supplies providing full redundancy. Each Xeon E5-2609 v3 is a six-core 1.9 GHz part; typical combined draw under load stays well within the 500 W budget, and the redundant design keeps the system running if one unit fails.
The chassis includes eight 2.5-inch SFF drive trays with screws but no drives. The H240ar controller supports 12 Gb SAS and 6 Gb SATA with RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60, so you must supply compatible SAS or SATA SSDs or HDDs and the matching cables.
Yes. The H240ar controller and backplane accept both 12 Gb SAS and 6 Gb SATA devices, so your current SATA SSDs will work in the 2.5-inch bays without an adapter.
