A 2U rack server with dual six-core Xeon processors, 16GB DDR4 memory, eight 146GB 15K SAS drives and a Smart HBA H240ar controller
The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack system supplied with two six-core Intel Xeon E5-2609v3 processors running at 1.9GHz. It ships with 16GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory installed across 24 DIMM slots. Eight 146GB 15K 2.5-inch SAS drives are fitted behind the Smart HBA H240ar controller. The platform targets workloads that need redundant power and internal storage density in a standard rack footprint.
Dual 500W redundant hot-swap power supplies maintain operation if one unit fails. The H240ar controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 for data protection during continuous I/O. Eight 15K SAS spindles deliver consistent throughput for database or virtualisation tasks. The Matrox G200eH2 graphics subsystem handles remote management console output without taxing the main CPUs.
The 2U chassis provides eight SFF drive bays with trays included for the installed drives. Expansion options allow additional SFF bays or NVME drive cages in specific bay positions. Twenty-four DDR4 slots support up to 3TB total memory using 4GB to 64GB modules at speeds up to 2400MT/s depending on processor capability. Redundant power supplies and hot-swap drive trays simplify maintenance without downtime. Buyers needing more than eight internal drives or GPU compute acceleration should consider alternative configurations.

Other versions of this model
Each supply is rated at 500W and they share the load for redundancy, so actual draw depends on workload but will not exceed the combined capacity.
The board accepts DDR4 ECC Registered DIMMs in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB or 64GB capacities up to 2400MT/s across 24 slots.
Yes, the H240ar supports 12Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA, so existing 6Gbps SAS drives will operate at their native speed.
