A 2U rack server with dual six-core Xeon processors at 1.9 GHz, 64 GB DDR4 memory and two 1 TB SATA drives on a B140i controller
The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server built for data-centre workloads that need dual-processor compute and redundant power. It ships with two six-core Xeon E5-2609 v3 CPUs at 1.9 GHz and 64 GB of DDR4 memory installed across 24 DIMM slots.
Dual hot-swap 500 W power supplies provide N+N redundancy without external modules. The B140i software RAID controller manages the two 1 TB 7.2K SATA drives in RAID 0, 1, 5 or 10, keeping drive noise and power draw predictable in a 2U chassis.
Eight 2.5-inch SFF drive bays accept additional SATA or SAS drives, while an optional universal media bay or NVMe cages can be fitted in specific bays. The integrated Matrox G200eH2 GPU supplies basic console output without occupying a PCIe slot.

Slide each 2.5 inch drive into its tray, insert the tray into any of the 8 SFF bays until it clicks, then configure the B140i software RAID in the UEFI before installing the OS — skipping the RAID setup is the common mistake.
The hot-swap design lets you replace a failed 500W unit without shutting down; plan to swap a supply if its status LED turns amber or the iLO alert logs a power fault.
With only six cores per processor at 1.9 GHz the compute throughput ceiling is reached well before the 64GB DDR4 memory capacity or the B140i SATA RAID bandwidth.
