2U rack server with a six-core Xeon E5-2609 v3 at 1.9 GHz, 128 GB DDR4, P440 controller with 4 GB FBWC, and 16 SFF drive bays
This 2U rack server ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processor running at 1.9GHz and 128GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory installed across the 24 DIMM slots. It is built for organisations that need a dense, redundant platform for virtualisation, database or general compute workloads in a standard rack enclosure. The chassis supports a second processor for up to 36 total cores when the workload grows.
Two 500W hot-swap power supplies provide N+1 redundancy so a failed unit can be replaced without downtime. The front panel holds 16 small-form-factor 2.5-inch drive bays with trays and screws included, while an optional universal media bay or an additional eight SFF bays can occupy bay three for up to 24 drives total. A Matrox G200eH2 controller with 16MB video memory handles basic console output.
The installed HP Smart Array P440 controller brings 4GB of flash-backed write cache and supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across 12Gb/s and 6Gb/s SAS links. This single specification determines whether the server can deliver the write performance and data protection your storage layout requires. No operating system or drives are included.

Other versions of this model
The Smart Array P440 provides 12Gb/s SAS links, so each 2.5" drive bay is limited to that 12Gb/s maximum.
It occupies 2U of rack height and ships with 16 SFF drive trays and screws for 2.5" drives.
The 128GB fills 24 DDR4 DIMM slots, 12 per processor; the second CPU must be fitted before its 12 slots become usable.
