A 2U rack server with a six-core 1.9 GHz Xeon, 4 GB DDR4, two 1 TB SAS drives and dual 500 W redundant power supplies
The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server built for data-centre workloads. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processor running at 1.9 GHz and 4 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. The chassis includes twelve 3.5-inch large-form-factor drive bays populated with two 1 TB 7.2K SAS drives. Dual 500 W redundant hot-swap power supplies provide fault-tolerant power delivery. The Smart HBA H240ar controller manages SAS and SATA storage with RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 support.
This server suits organisations that want a 12-bay 2U platform with room to add a second Xeon processor and scale memory across twenty-four DIMM slots. Buyers who require more than two processor sockets, integrated graphics acceleration, or a different drive form factor should evaluate other platforms. The single-socket configuration limits core count to six until a second CPU is installed. The Matrox G200eH2 GPU provides basic display output only and is not intended for compute workloads.
The installed CPU delivers six cores at a fixed 1.9 GHz clock speed and defines the initial performance ceiling. A second compatible Xeon E5-2600 v3 or v4 processor can be added to double the core count up to twelve. Memory speed is dependent on the processor capability, with DDR4 modules supported up to 2400 MT/s across the twenty-four registered DIMM slots. This processor choice determines whether the platform meets the compute density required for the target workload.
