2U rack server with single Xeon E5-2609 v3 6-core 1.9GHz, 96GB DDR4, two 300GB 15K SAS drives and H240ar RAID controller
The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server system built around a single Intel Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processor running at 1.9 GHz. It ships with 96 GB of DDR4 memory across 24 DIMM slots and two 300 GB 15K SAS drives managed by an H240ar controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Dual 500 W redundant hot-swap power supplies and a Matrox G200eH2 graphics adapter complete the configuration.
This server suits operators who need dense 3.5-inch drive bays, hardware RAID across SAS drives and redundant power in a 2U form factor. The installed CPU provides six cores at 1.9 GHz with a single-socket layout, leaving the second socket available for future expansion. Buyers who need a second processor installed, solid-state storage from the factory, or a different drive interface should look at a different specification.
The decisive specification is the single Intel Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processor operating at 1.9 GHz. It defines the core count, clock speed and memory-channel architecture available today, while the second socket remains empty for a later upgrade. If the workload demands more cores or higher frequency immediately, this configuration will not meet that requirement.

The H240ar controller supports RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60. Check the BIOS utility or HP Smart Storage Administrator to confirm the 2x 300GB 15K SAS drives appear in the desired RAID level and report healthy status.
The 2U rack server includes one E5-2609 v3 6-core 1.9GHz CPU, 96GB DDR4 across 24 DIMM slots, 2x 300GB 15K 3.5" SAS drives with trays, H240ar controller, 2x 500W redundant power supplies and Matrox G200eH2 GPU. Operating system and additional CPUs or drives are not included.
The system arrives with 96GB DDR4 installed, which equals the 96GB maximum supported by the single E5-2609 v3 processor. To exceed 96GB you must add a second processor; then DDR4 ECC Registered modules up to 64GB each can fill the remaining slots up to 3TB total.
