2U rack server with one Xeon E5-2643 v3 six-core 3.4 GHz CPU, 4 GB DDR4, two 146 GB 15K SAS drives and H240ar RAID controller
The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server built around a single Intel Xeon E5-2643 v3 six-core processor running at 3.4 GHz. It ships with 4 GB of DDR4 memory and two 146 GB 15K SAS drives. Redundant hot-swap 500 W power supplies are included. The platform suits small business workloads, virtualisation hosts, or edge compute nodes that need a compact, serviceable chassis.
Installed memory is 4 GB across 24 DIMM slots, with the board supporting up to 3 TB when fully populated with registered ECC DDR4 modules. The Smart HBA H240ar controller manages the two included SAS drives and offers RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Eight SFF bays are available, so capacity can grow well beyond the factory pair, though the controller tops out at 12 Gbps SAS and 6 Gbps SATA throughput.
The H240ar connects through a PCIe 3.0 x8 lane, capping sustained bandwidth at roughly 8 GB/s regardless of drive count. NVMe drives can only occupy bay 2 and require a separate universal media bay or additional backplane not included here. The Matrox G200eH2 graphics core provides basic console output only. A second processor kit is required to unlock the remaining 12 DIMM slots and the second CPU socket.

Other versions of this model
The 146 GB 15K SAS drives use a standard 2.5-inch SAS interface, so they will connect to a Gen8 backplane, but the H240ar controller and Gen9 drive trays are not cross-compatible; you would need Gen8 trays and a supported Gen8 controller.
During POST the H240ar BIOS reports controller firmware version, detects both 146 GB drives, and shows the configured RAID level; the iLO 4 interface then displays controller health, drive SMART status, and battery-backed write cache state.
The box contains the 2U chassis, one E5-2643 v3 3.4 GHz 6-core processor, 4 GB DDR4 ECC RDIMM, two 146 GB 15K SAS drives in Gen9 trays, H240ar controller, two 500 W redundant power supplies, Matrox G200eH2 graphics, and rack rails; OS, additional DDR4 DIMMs, extra drives, and NVMe kits are not included.
