A 2U rack server with a twelve-core Xeon at 2.3GHz, 96GB DDR4, dual 1TB SAS drives and a P440 controller with 4GB FBWC
This HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 server fits a 2U rack space and ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2670v3 twelve-core processor running at 2.3 GHz. It includes 96 GB of DDR4 memory across 24 DIMM slots and two 1 TB 7.2K SAS drives managed by a Smart Array P440 controller with 4 GB FBWC. The system targets data-centre workloads that need redundant power and internal storage expansion.
The chassis provides 16 SFF drive bays with trays included for the installed drives; additional bays accept universal media or extra SFF kits. Redundant hot-swap 500 W power supplies simplify maintenance without downtime. Installers should verify that each processor population matches the 12 DIMM slots per CPU to avoid memory configuration errors. The Matrox G200eH2 graphics output is limited to basic management console use.
The SAS drives operate at 6 Gbps and the P440 controller supports 12 Gbps SAS lanes, so drive throughput is capped by the 6 Gbps link speed. RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 are available, but rebuild times grow with the 1 TB capacity and 7.2K rotational speed. Memory speed reaches 2400 MT/s only when the installed processor supports that rate; otherwise it runs lower. The single-processor configuration leaves half the DIMM slots and the second CPU socket unpopulated.

Other versions of this model
During POST the P440 option ROM will list the controller firmware version and show each 1 TB SAS drive with its capacity and RAID status; you can also open the Intelligent Provisioning environment (F10) to confirm the logical drive is healthy.
The box contains the 2U chassis with one Xeon E5-2670v3, 96 GB DDR4, two 1 TB 7.2K 2.5" SAS drives in trays, the P440/4 GB FBWC controller, two 500 W redundant power supplies and the Matrox G200eH2 GPU; rails, operating system and any additional drives or memory are not included.
The single Xeon E5-2670v3 already populates 96 GB across its 12 DIMM slots; adding a second processor unlocks the remaining 12 slots and raises the maximum supported memory to 3 TB, so choose the second processor only if you need more than 96 GB.
