Powers a single access point through the network cable without a separate outlet
The HP SNX-J9407B#ABA is a single-port power injector designed to deliver DC power over an Ethernet cable to a compatible wireless access point. It removes the need for a local mains outlet at the device location, simplifying installation in ceilings, walls or outdoor enclosures. Network administrators deploying HP access points use this injector to centralise power distribution.
The unit operates without an internal fan, producing no audible noise and drawing only the power required by the connected access point plus minimal conversion loss. Its passive design eliminates moving parts, reducing long-term maintenance in quiet office or classroom environments. The injector has been listed since 19 June 2019.
The injector sits between a network switch and the access point, requiring a standard AC mains connection at the switch side and a single Ethernet run to the device. It frees the access point from a dedicated power cable and socket, allowing placement wherever structured cabling reaches. No additional cooling or rack space is needed for the injector itself.

Connect the injector's LAN port to your network switch with an Ethernet cable, then run a second Ethernet cable from the PoE port to the access point; plug the injector into mains power. The step often missed is using the dedicated PoE output port rather than the LAN port for the access point.
The unit has no user-serviceable parts or filters. If the internal power supply fails after extended use, the entire injector must be replaced; there are no replaceable fuses or fan modules to service.
The primary limit is the injector's maximum PoE power budget; if the connected access point draws more than the rated output, the injector will shut down the PoE port to protect itself.
