Victus 15.6 FHD 144 Hz gaming laptop

The HP Victus combines a 15.6 inch FHD IPS panel running at 144 Hz with an Intel Core i5-12450H processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics. It ships with 8 GB DDR4 memory, a 512 GB PCIe SSD and Windows 11 Home. The chassis weighs 5.06 lb and includes an HDMI 2.1 port, one USB Type-C with DisplayPort 1.4 and two USB Type-A ports.

Suited to 1080p entry gaming.

Buyers who want smooth 1080p gameplay in less demanding titles will find the 144 Hz screen and GTX 1650 a practical match. The 8 GB of memory and 512 GB of storage cover everyday multitasking and a modest game library. Users who need higher frame rates in modern AAA games, more video memory for texture-heavy workloads or a larger storage pool should look at other configurations.

GTX 1650 4 GB GDDR5 decides 1080p viability

The graphics card provides 4 GB of GDDR5 memory and drives the internal 1920 x 1080 panel at up to 144 Hz. It also supports external displays through HDMI 2.1 and the USB Type-C DisplayPort 1.4 connection. If the 4 GB frame buffer matches the textures and resolutions you target, the system will deliver; if your workload requires more video memory, this GPU will be the limiting factor.

Questions about this item

How long can the i5-12450H sustain its 4.40 GHz boost before thermals throttle it?

The 12-core i5-12450H hits 4.40 GHz max boost, but the Victus chassis shares a single heat-pipe stack between CPU and GTX 1650. Under continuous load both chips saturate the cooler within minutes, so sustained clocks settle well below the peak figure.

What are the fan noise and surface temperatures after hours of gaming?

Dual-fan cooling pushes heat out the rear vent; the keyboard deck stays warm but not hot, while fan noise rises to a noticeable but not intrusive level during extended sessions.

Which peripherals does the single USB-C 5Gbps port with DisplayPort 1.4 replace or require?

The lone Type-C port carries video and 5 Gbps data, so an external monitor or dock needs a USB-C to DP/HDMI adapter; legacy USB-A gear uses the two Type-A 5Gbps ports instead.
