Dual-core Xeon DP 5200 processor runs at 3.40 GHz with 6 MB L2 cache and a 1333 MHz front-side bus
The HP X5272Product is a dual-core Xeon DP 5200 processor upgrade running at 3.40 GHz. It targets IT administrators who need to refresh compatible HP server or workstation platforms with a 45 nm Intel Core microarchitecture part. The module delivers two cores, each with 32 kB instruction and 32 kB data cache, plus a shared 6 MB Level 2 cache using Intel Advanced Smart Cache architecture.
Built on a 45 nanometer process, the chip combines higher performance with the power efficiencies of a low-power microarchitecture. The 1333 MHz front side bus operates from a 333 MHz system clock, yielding 10.66 GBytes per second of bandwidth while keeping thermal output in check. Data Prefetch Logic speculatively loads the L2 cache ahead of L1 requests, reducing effective bus latency and helping the processor run cooler under typical workloads.
Supplied as a bare processor upgrade, the unit includes no heatsink, mounting hardware or software media. Installers must reuse the existing cooling solution and firmware from the host system. Compatibility is limited to platforms that already support the Xeon DP 5200 series and the 1333 MHz FSB; builders needing a different socket, higher core count or newer instruction-set extensions cannot use this module.

The processor fits a 1333 MHz front-side bus socket on a compatible HP server board; the step often missed is applying fresh thermal paste and securing the heatsink retention bracket before powering on.
The 45 nm dual-core chip itself has no moving parts; plan to replace the server's system fans and thermal paste every few years to keep the 3.40 GHz cores within safe temperatures.
The 1333 MHz front-side bus caps memory bandwidth at 10.66 GB/s, so throughput-bound workloads hit the bus ceiling before the two 3.40 GHz cores reach full utilisation.
