Compact AI Workstation

The HP Z2 Mini G1a is a new mini workstation built around the AMD Ryzen AI MAX PRO 390 processor with 64 GB of unified memory and a 1 TB SSD. It targets professionals who need local AI acceleration and discrete-class graphics in a space-saving Jet Black chassis that runs Windows 11 Pro.

Sustained AI and Graphics Loads

The AMD Radeon 8050S graphics share the unified memory pool, allowing the system to allocate memory to the GPU for large models or 3D renders. An NPU rated at 50 TOPS offloads continuous AI inference tasks, so the CPU cores remain free for simultaneous design and rendering workloads without thermal throttling in the compact enclosure.

NVMe Storage and Memory Limits

The single 1 TB NVMe drive sets the fixed local storage ceiling; expansion requires external drives or network volumes. The 64 GB unified memory is not user-upgradable, capping the maximum dataset size that can reside in GPU-accessible RAM for large language models or complex scenes.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the AMD Ryzen AI MAX PRO 390 get when the Z2 Mini runs AI workloads all day?

The compact chassis uses a vapour-chamber cooler designed for sustained desktop-class CPU cores and the integrated Radeon 8050S graphics, so fan noise stays at office-friendly levels even during long render or LLM sessions.

Which display cables and monitors do I need to connect to the HP Z2 Mini G1a?

The unit provides USB4 and DisplayPort outputs driven by the Radeon 8050S graphics; bring your own monitors and matching cables — no screen is included in the box.

Will my existing NVMe RAID 0 or RAID 1 array work inside this mini workstation?

The onboard NVMe controller supports RAID levels 0 and 1, so you can reinstall or migrate a current two-drive NVMe array without changing the RAID mode.
