HP ZBook 8 G1i Mobile Workstation

The HP ZBook 8 G1i is a 16-inch mobile workstation running Windows 11 Pro. It uses an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H processor and 32GB of DDR5 memory. A dedicated NVIDIA RTX 500 Ada Generation GPU with 4GB video memory handles graphics workloads. A 1TB SSD provides the primary storage volume.

Suits CAD and field engineers.

This configuration suits engineers who need a certified workstation for CAD, BIM or GIS applications on site. The WUXGA non-touch display and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity support mobile productivity. Buyers who need more graphics memory or higher core counts for rendering farms should consider a different tier.

4GB RTX 500 Ada GPU decides fit

The single specification that determines suitability is the NVIDIA RTX 500 Ada Generation GPU with 4GB of dedicated video memory. This capacity covers entry-level professional 3D and multi-display workflows. Workloads requiring larger frame buffers or certified drivers for advanced simulation will need a GPU with more memory.

Questions about this item

How do I install the DDR5 memory in the ZBook 8 G1i, and which step do people get wrong?

The 32 GB DDR5 is soldered to the board, so no user installation is possible; the common mistake is buying a 64 GB kit expecting an empty slot, but the 64 GB maximum requires a factory configuration.

What maintenance or replacement will the lithium-polymer battery need later?

The sealed 3.79 lb chassis means the battery is not user-replaceable; plan on a depot service when runtime drops below your workflow threshold.

What limit shows up first on the RTX 500 Ada 4 GB GPU during sustained rendering?

The 4 GB video memory fills before the thermal ceiling on long 1920 x 1200 workloads, forcing texture swaps to system RAM.
