900 GB 10 000 rpm SAS drive

This HPE 785411-001 is a new 900 GB internal hard drive with a 2.5 inch form factor. It spins at 10 000 rpm and connects through a SAS 12Gb/s interface. The drive is built for enterprise storage arrays and servers that require consistent performance.

Suited for high IOPS workloads.

The 10 000 rpm spindle speed suits databases, virtualization hosts and transaction-heavy applications that benefit from low latency. Buyers who need maximum terabytes per pound should look at larger-capacity drives with lower spindle speeds. Systems without a SAS controller or backplane cannot use this drive.

SAS 12Gb/s interface

The drive uses a SAS 12Gb/s interface, so the host must provide a compatible SAS HBA, RAID controller or backplane. A 12Gb/s link allows the drive to deliver its full throughput; older 6Gb/s SAS ports will work but at reduced speed. Verify that your chassis accepts 2.5 inch drives before ordering.
