6 TB SAS drive for HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10

This 6 TB internal hard drive uses a 12Gb/s SAS interface and spins at 7200 rpm. It is built for HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 storage servers and includes a drive carrier for direct installation. The 512e disk format supports legacy and modern workloads alike.

Check SAS controller and carrier fit

Verify that your server provides a 12Gb/s SAS backplane or controller before ordering. The included carrier matches the DL360 Gen10 drive bays; other chassis may need a different tray. Ensure the system firmware recognises 512e formatted drives for proper capacity reporting.

Thermals noise and power in normal use

As a 7200 rpm mechanical drive it generates typical rotational vibration and audible seek noise during heavy I/O. Power draw follows standard 3.5" SAS specifications under sustained read and write loads. The carrier design helps conduct heat into the server airflow path for stable temperatures.

Questions about this item

Does the HPE 862140-001 6 TB drive ship with its 3.5" carrier or do I need to order one separately?

The drive includes a carrier, so no separate bracket is required for installation in a compatible bay.

Which interface version should I select to match a 12Gb/s SAS backplane?

This model uses a 12Gb/s SAS interface, which is the only version offered for this part number.

What does the 7200 rpm spindle speed mean for throughput in a ProLiant DL360 Gen10 server?

The 7200 rpm rotation delivers sequential read and write rates typical of midline SAS drives, suitable for bulk storage workloads.
