900 GB 15 000 rpm SAS drive

The HPE 870765-B21 is a 900 GB internal hard drive spinning at 15 000 rpm with a SAS 12Gb/s interface in a 2.5 inch form factor. It is built for server workloads that demand high throughput and low latency.

Installation and common issues

The drive fits standard 2.5 inch SAS bays and connects with a single SAS data and power cable. Most problems arise when the backplane or controller does not support 12Gb/s speeds, causing the link to negotiate down or fail entirely.

Compatibility checks before ordering

Verify that your server chassis accepts 2.5 inch SAS drives and that the RAID controller or HBA lists 12Gb/s SAS support. Confirm the drive cage provides the correct connector spacing and that firmware on the controller is current for this capacity.

The drive is supplied as a bare 2.5" unit; a compatible hot-plug tray or caddy for the specific server chassis must be purchased separately.

Which capacity should I choose if I need the 900 GB model with a 12Gb/s SAS interface?

The part number 870765-B21 identifies the 900 GB capacity with 12Gb/s SAS; select this exact MPN to match those specifications.
