Blade server with dual Xeon Gold 6142 CPUs, 32 GB DDR4 and two 900 GB SAS drives
The HPE BL460c G10 is a dual-socket blade server fitted with two Intel Xeon Gold 6142 processors running at 2.6 GHz. Sixteen cores per processor deliver 32 cores total for virtualisation, database or compute workloads. Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed and the system supports up to 128 GB. Two 900 GB SAS 2.5-inch 10K drives connect through a Smart Array P204i-b SR Gen10 controller. Integrated Lights-Out Advanced provides remote management.
This blade requires a supported HPE c-Class enclosure with adequate power and cooling modules installed. Verify that the enclosure firmware is current and that the FlexFabric 20 GB 2-port 650FLB adapter matches your uplink modules. Confirm the Smart Array P204i-b SR controller firmware aligns with your RAID requirements before deployment. Ensure the installed 32 GB DDR4 configuration meets the minimum memory population rules for dual-processor operation.
The blade is designed for forced-air cooling inside the enclosure; inlet temperature should stay within the enclosure specification. Dual 16-core processors at 2.6 GHz will draw significant power under load, so enclosure power supplies must be sized accordingly. Fan speed ramps with CPU utilisation and drive activity; expect increased airflow noise during sustained compute tasks. The 20 GB FlexFabric adapter and SAS drives add to the total thermal load inside the chassis.
