HPE DL360 Gen10 8SFF dual Xeon Gold 6138 256GB DDR4

This HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 rack server ships with two Intel Xeon Gold 6138 processors at 2.0 GHz, 20 cores each, and 256 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. The chassis supports up to eight 2.5-inch SFF drive bays and includes a Smart Array P408 SAS controller. Remote management is handled by HPE iLO Advanced and dual 500 W flex-slot power supplies are fitted.

Suits compute-heavy workloads.

The dual 20-core CPUs and large memory pool suit virtualisation, database and high-performance computing clusters that need many threads in a 1U form factor. Only integrated graphics are present, so workloads requiring discrete GPU acceleration should look elsewhere. Storage drives are not installed and must be added separately.

256 GB DDR4 ECC registered memory capacity

The system arrives with 256 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory installed across the available DIMM slots. Maximum supported capacity is 3 TB, allowing significant expansion when workloads grow. Memory type and speed are fixed to DDR4 specifications; other generations are not compatible.

Questions about this item

How do I install the Xeon Gold 6138 processors into the DL360 Gen10 sockets and what step is often missed?

Align each processor with the socket keys, lower the load plate, and torque the heatsink screws in the diagonal sequence shown on the retention frame; the step often missed is applying the pre-applied thermal interface material evenly before seating the heatsink.

What maintenance or replacement will the 256GB DDR4 memory configuration need later?

The DDR4 ECC registered DIMMs are rated for continuous operation; plan to replace any module that logs corrected errors in the iLO event log or fails the built-in memory test during POST.

At what point does the Smart Array P408 controller become the limit under sustained write workloads?

The P408 SAS controller's write throughput caps at the PCIe 3.0 x8 lane bandwidth, so sustained heavy write streams will saturate the controller before the 2.5" SATA drive bays reach their individual limits.
