A 1U rack server with two Xeon Silver 4116 processors, 256GB DDR4 ECC memory, eight 2.5-inch SAS drive bays and a Smart Array P408 controller, sold without drives
The HPE DL360 Gen10 8SFF arrives with two Xeon Silver 4116 processors running at 2.1 GHz, each delivering 12 cores and 16.5 MB cache. 256 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory fills the DIMM slots, and the Smart Array P408 SAS controller manages up to eight 2.5-inch drive bays. Integrated graphics and dual 500 W Flex Slot supplies complete the 1U chassis.
Moving from a single-processor system or a four- to eight-core Xeon doubles thread count and memory channels, which benefits virtualisation hosts, database nodes and high-frequency trading workloads. The jump is worth it when licensing costs scale per socket and the 24 combined cores keep core-count licensing efficient. Buyers who need more than 3 TB of RAM or more than two sockets cannot use this platform.
Under continuous multi-threaded load the twin Xeon Silver 4116 CPUs maintain 2.1 GHz across all 24 cores, while the P408 controller sustains SAS throughput without thermal throttling. iLO Advanced provides remote power cycling and sensor logging during extended runs. The 1U airflow path relies on front-to-rear cooling; operators must ensure rack inlet temperatures stay within specification.

The chassis measures 36 inches deep, so the rack must provide at least that much clear depth plus cable room.
Slide each supply into the rear bays until the latch clicks, then seat both IEC cables; the step often missed is engaging the redundant-mode jumper on the backplane.
DDR4 ECC registered modules typically run for years; plan replacement only if iLO reports correctable errors or a DIMM fails POST.
