A 12-bay 3.5-inch rack server with dual 2.6GHz Xeon processors, 192GB DDR4 memory, and P440ar SAS controller, sold without drives
The HPE DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server built for dense storage workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon E5-2640 v3 processors running at 2.6GHz and 192GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. The 12-bay 3.5-inch LFF chassis supports SATA and SAS drives via the integrated P440ar controller with SAS expander. Dual 800W hot-plug power supplies and HPE iLO Advanced remote management come standard.
This configuration fits teams consolidating virtual machines or running databases that benefit from high core counts and large memory capacity. The twelve large-form-factor bays provide raw capacity for bulk data, backups or media archives. Buyers who need more than twelve drive bays or a smaller 2.5-inch form factor should evaluate other platforms. The integrated graphics and 10GbE networking cover basic display and connectivity without extra cards.
The single specification that decides fit is the twelve-bay LFF chassis, which caps internal drive count at twelve 3.5-inch SATA or SAS devices. No drives are installed, so buyers must procure matching media separately. Maximum system memory reaches 3TB across twenty-four DIMM slots, leaving headroom well beyond the factory 192GB. Dual Xeon E5-2640 v3 CPUs are the maximum processor configuration for this generation.

The chassis is 36 inches deep and fits standard racks; rail kits are available on request.
After installing the second CPU, update the system BIOS and iLO firmware to the latest version so both processors are recognised.
Replace a supply if its LED shows amber or if iLO reports a power-supply fault after the server has passed its burn-in test.
