HPE DL380 Gen9 8SFF Server

The HPE DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server built for virtualisation, database and compute workloads. It ships with two Xeon E5-2623 v3 processors running at 3 GHz and 768 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. The eight-bay 2.5-inch chassis supports SAS drives via the Smart Array P440 controller. Remote management is handled by HPE iLO Advanced.

Build integration and expansion

Dual 500 W Flex Slot power supplies provide redundancy inside the 36 x 24 x 10 inch enclosure. The P440 RAID controller occupies one PCIe slot and presents up to eight SAS bays for storage. Four integrated network ports — two 10 GbE and two 1 GbE — are fitted as standard. Maximum processor count is reached at two, so no further CPU upgrades are possible.

Memory capacity and headroom

Installed memory sits at 768 GB across the DDR4 DIMM slots, leaving headroom toward the 3 TB platform limit. The eight drive bays accept 2.5-inch SAS HDDs or SSDs; no drives are included. Workloads that exceed the four-core-per-processor design or require GPU acceleration will need a different platform.
