HPE Instant On 1960 24-port switch

The HPE Instant On 1960 provides 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports for small-business networks. Twenty ports deliver Class 4 PoE and four ports deliver Class 6 PoE for higher-powered devices. Two 10 Gigabit uplinks and two SFP+ slots handle aggregation traffic. The unit fits a standard rack and draws up to 370 watts.

PoE budget and uplink constraints

The 370 watt PoE budget limits how many Class 6 devices can run simultaneously alongside Class 4 ports. Uplink throughput depends on the SFP+ modules installed and the cabling used. Managed features require configuration through the Instant On cloud portal or mobile app. Buyers needing higher PoE density or more uplink bandwidth should consider larger chassis switches.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 20 Class 4 ports or the 4 Class 6 ports for my access points?

Use the 20 Class 4 ports for standard Wi‑Fi 5 or 6 access points and the 4 Class 6 ports for Wi‑Fi 6E or Wi‑Fi 7 units that need up to 60 W each.

What does the 370 W PoE budget mean when every port is in use?

The 370 W budget powers all 24 ports simultaneously; 20 ports share up to 30 W each while 4 ports can draw up to 60 W, so total draw cannot exceed 370 W.
