Connects network switches via LC fibre for 1000Base-SX Gigabit Ethernet links
The HPE ProCurve J4858A is an SFP mini-GBIC transceiver designed for data networking. It provides a single fibre uplink for switches and routers that accept hot-pluggable SFP modules.
This module uses an LC connector and operates at 1000Base-SX over multimode optical fibre. It supports Gigabit Ethernet only and will not work on ports that require a different wavelength or single-mode fibre.
Insert the transceiver into a compatible SFP slot until it clicks, then attach an LC duplex patch cable. The most common issue is using the wrong fibre type or exceeding the distance limit for 1000Base-SX links.

1000Base-SX defines Gigabit Ethernet over multimode fibre with an LC connector; reach depends on the fibre grade used in your installation.
The module follows the SFP mini-GBIC form factor with an LC connector, limiting the link to Gigabit Ethernet speeds on multimode fibre.
It fits any standard SFP mini-GBIC slot and requires multimode fibre with LC duplex connectors.
