Network transceiver for HP ProCurve switches

The HPE J4858C is a Mini-GBIC SFP transceiver designed for data networking on compatible HP ProCurve switches and modules. It provides a single LC port for multi-mode fiber connections in enterprise environments.

Sustained 1000Base-SX operation over multi-mode

The module operates at 1000Base-SX using 62.5/125 µm multi-mode optical fiber. It maintains link stability across supported ProCurve chassis including the 9304M, 9308M, 9315M and 9400sl 40-port module during continuous data transfer.

Hot-swap installation into SFP slots

The transceiver inserts directly into an SFP slot on a compatible switch without powering down the chassis. Installers must verify the exact switch model against the supported list; unsupported models will not recognise the module.

What must the buyer already own to use this LC 1000Base-SX transceiver?

A compatible HP ProCurve switch or module with an open SFP port, plus a 62.5/125 µm multi-mode fiber patch cable with LC connectors on both ends.

Will the J4858C work in a ProCurve 2810-24G that the buyer already has?

Yes, the ProCurve 2810-24G is listed in the manufacturer compatibility table for this Mini-GBIC module.
