Adds four SFP slots for optical-fibre uplinks to compatible ProCurve 5308xl, 5348xl, 5372xl and 5304xl switches
The HPE J4878A ProCurve GBIC Module adds optical-fibre connectivity to compatible HP ProCurve switches for data networking environments. It is designed for network administrators expanding fibre uplinks in existing chassis-based deployments. The module installs directly into a GBIC slot on supported platforms.
Each unit provides four SFP (mini-GBIC) expansion slots, allowing up to four fibre transceivers to be populated from a single module. This slot count determines how many concurrent fibre links the chassis can support through this module.
The module works only with the HP ProCurve Switch 5372xl (J4848A), 5308xl (J4819A), 5348xl (J4849A) and 5304xl (J4850A). Builders using other switch families or newer platforms cannot use this module and must select a different form factor.

The module provides a single gigabit optical uplink; actual throughput depends on the SFP transceiver fitted and the switch backplane.
The slots accept SFP (mini-GBIC) transceivers, so port speed and distance are defined by the specific SFP module you insert.
It fits the ProCurve 5372xl (J4848A), 5308xl (J4819A), 5348xl (J4849A) and 5304xl (J4850A) chassis.
