48-port managed access switch

The HPE Juniper Networking EX4100-F-48T is a managed Layer 3 switch built for desktop or rack deployment. It provides forty-eight RJ45 ports operating at 10/100/1000 Mbps and eight SFP+ uplinks for 1 GbE or 10 GbE connectivity. The platform runs Junos OS with Mist AI integration for cloud-driven operations and wired assurance.

PoE absent — plan separate power for endpoints

This model does not supply Power over Ethernet, so wireless access points, IP phones or cameras will need local injectors or a midspan device. The chassis draws a maximum of 70 W from its internal supply. Uplink flexibility comes from four 1/10 GbE SFP/SFP+ ports plus four dedicated 10 GbE stacking or uplink ports.

64 K MAC table and 32 K IPv4 routes

The forwarding table holds 64,000 MAC addresses and supports 32,650 IPv4 unicast prefixes with 32,150 host routes. Multicast capacity reaches 16,100 hardware routes. Jumbo frames up to 9,216 bytes and 4,094 VLAN IDs are available. Networks needing larger route tables or PoE budgets should evaluate other platforms.

Questions about this item

What does the 48-port 10/100/1000BASE-T count mean for a typical office deployment?

The 48 RJ45 ports each auto-negotiate to 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps so you can connect up to 48 wired endpoints such as PCs, printers or access points without needing extra copper switches.

What practical limit do the 4 SFP+ uplink ports impose on aggregate upstream bandwidth?

Four SFP+ cages accept 1 GbE or 10 GbE transceivers, capping total uplink throughput at 40 Gbps when all four run at 10 GbE line rate.

What physical space and weight should I plan for when placing this desktop-format switch on a shelf?

The unit measures 44.09 cm wide, 4.37 cm high and 25.65 cm deep and weighs 3.89 kg, so allow a sturdy shelf at least 45 cm deep with 5 cm vertical clearance.
