A managed Layer-3 switch with 24 SFP+ ports and 4 QSFP+ ports for high-density fibre uplinks

  • Layer 3 managed switching for advanced traffic control
  • 24 SFP+ ports supporting 1 and 10 Gigabit speeds
  • 4 QSFP+ ports delivering 40 Gigabit connectivity with breakout option
  • Rack-mountable EX4600 chassis designed for data-centre deployment

Port density and uplinks

The HPE Juniper Networking EX4600 switch provides 24 ports of 1/10G SFP+ connectivity plus four 40G QSFP+ uplinks that support breakout operation. It is a managed Layer 3 platform designed for rack mounting in data-centre and campus aggregation layers where high-density fibre uplinks are required.

Thermals noise and power

The unit ships with front-to-back airflow for standard cold-aisle deployment and uses redundant hot-swap fans that adjust speed to load. Power is supplied by dual redundant AC power supplies, allowing continued operation if one supply fails while keeping acoustic output suitable for equipment-room environments.

Questions about this item

How do I mount the EX4600-40F-AFO-T in a rack, and what step is often missed?

Secure the supplied brackets to the chassis first, then slide the unit into the rack and fasten all four screws; the step often missed is tightening the rear bracket screws after the front ones.

Which transceivers will need replacement first on the EX4600-40F-AFO-T?

The 24 SFP+ ports and 4 QSFP+ ports use hot-swappable modules; SFP+ optics typically reach end of life before the QSFP+ breakout modules.
