Two EX9200-RE2 routing engines and dual Switch Fabric-2 modules provide carrier-class redundancy. The platform targets network operators who need scalable Layer 3 connectivity in a single 8-slot enclosure.

Replaces fixed-configuration aggregation switches

This chassis replaces stacks of fixed-port aggregation switches when port density and uplink flexibility must grow without adding rack units. The jump is worth it when traffic demands exceed the backplane capacity of smaller EX Series models and when redundant routing engines are required for non-stop forwarding. Eight expansion slots accept line cards that can be added as capacity needs increase.

Passive midplane limits future fabric upgrades

The passive midplane architecture means fabric capacity is set by the installed Switch Fabric-2 modules and cannot be upgraded without a chassis replacement. Throughput per slot is capped at 240 Gbps full duplex, so line cards that exceed this rate cannot be fully utilised. Power input is 200/240 V AC only, with four 520 W supplies providing redundancy but no DC option.
