10GBase-X network adapter connects servers via PCI Express x8 with SFP+ slots
The HPE NC552SFP is a 10-gigabit Ethernet server adapter built on a PCI Express x8 interface. It provides two SFP+ cages for 10GBase-X optical or direct-attach copper modules. The plug-in card targets servers and workstations that need dedicated high-throughput networking. It is not for systems limited to PCIe x4 or x1 slots.
The card measures 7.6 inches by 11.1 inches with a 1.3-inch profile and weighs approximately 1 lb. It requires a full-height PCI Express x8 expansion slot and two SFP+ transceivers or cables, which are not included. The x8 electrical connection frees bandwidth for other peripherals on the bus. Buyers who need a low-profile bracket or single-port density should look elsewhere.
Upgrading from a standard gigabit adapter removes the 1 Gbps bottleneck for storage replication, backup and VM migration traffic. The jump is worth it when the switch fabric and cabling already support 10GBase-X speeds. Environments still running on Cat5e copper or without SFP+ optics will not benefit.

The PCI Express x8 host interface supplies sufficient lane width for continuous 10GBase-X line-rate traffic without bottleneck.
The plug-in card weighs 1 lb and fits a standard low-profile slot; passive cooling relies on server chassis airflow.
The card uses SFP+ cages, so you must supply compatible 10GBase-X SFP+ optics or direct-attach cables.
