48-port PoE+ managed switch

The HPE Networking Instant On 2530-48G-PoE+ provides 48 Gigabit RJ-45 ports with PoE+ and four SFP uplinks. It suits offices and campus edges that power phones, cameras and access points from a single 1U rack-mountable unit.

Thermals noise and power

An internal power supply delivers PoE+ across all 48 copper ports without external bricks. The desktop, rack-mountable or wall-mountable enclosure handles typical office ambient temperatures while keeping switching capacity at 104 Gbps and throughput at 77.3 Mpps.

Build quality and mounting

The 17.4 in chassis meets FCC Class A, CISPR 22 Class A and multiple IEC 61000 immunity standards. Front-facing RJ-45 and SFP ports simplify patching in racks or on walls, and dual firmware images support in-service upgrades without downtime.

Questions about this item

How do I mount the 1U desktop, rack-mountable, wall-mountable chassis in a standard rack?

Attach the supplied rack-mount brackets to the front of the 1U enclosure and secure them to the rack posts; the step often missed is leaving clearance on both sides for the internal airflow path.

Which component will need replacement first under continuous PoE+ load?

The internal power supply is the only field-replaceable part; sustained 48-port PoE+ operation stresses its capacitors and fan bearings, so plan for a supply swap after several years of 24/7 duty.

What is the first hard limit reached when all 48 ports run at wire speed with 9220-byte jumbo frames?

The 104 Gbps switching capacity caps total bidirectional throughput; once aggregate traffic hits that ceiling the switch buffers frames and latency rises before any port-level limit is reached.
