HPE P25246-001 16 TB SATA 3.5 in HDD accessory

SKU CH-4VF1-HC9P8 MPN P25246-001

A 16 TB helium-filled internal hard drive with 7200 RPM speed and SATA interface for high-capacity storage

  • 16 TB capacity for large-scale data storage
  • 7200 RPM spindle speed for responsive read/write performance
  • Helium-filled design reduces internal friction and power draw
  • 512e sector format ensures broad system compatibility
  • 5-inch form factor fits standard drive bays

16 TB helium-filled hard drive

This 3.5-inch internal drive delivers 16 TB of storage using helium-sealed technology for lower drag and cooler operation. It connects through a standard SATA III interface and spins at 7200 RPM with a 512e sector format. The unit is built for bulk data workloads in compatible servers and storage arrays.

Tool-less drive carrier installation

The drive ships in a large-form-factor carrier that slides into supported HPE bays without screws or cables. Alignment pins on the carrier prevent upside-down insertion, which is the most common fitting error. Ensure the bay latch fully engages; a loose latch causes intermittent detection. No separate mounting brackets are required.

16 TB capacity for sequential workloads

The 16 TB volume handles large sequential reads such as backup, archiving and media streaming without saturating the SATA III link. Random write performance drops sharply once the write cache fills, so sustained database or virtual-machine workloads will see latency spikes. Plan capacity headroom accordingly.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the HPE P25246-001 is spinning at 7200 RPM after installation?

The drive should appear in the BIOS or RAID controller with the correct 16 TB capacity and report a SATA III link speed; SMART data will show the 7200 RPM rotation rate.

What comes with the HPE P25246-001 and what must I source separately?

The package contains the 3.5 in helium-filled hard drive only; SATA data and power cables, mounting screws and a drive tray are not included.

Which capacity should I choose if I need the 16 TB helium model with 512e formatting?

This part number P25246-001 is the single 16 TB version with 512e sector emulation; no other capacities are offered under this MPN.
