Compatibility and form factor

This riser kit is designed for the HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen11 2U server and follows an X8/X16/X8 slot arrangement. It enables the installation of additional PCIe expansion cards in the supported chassis. The unit ships new and weighs approximately 2.23 lbs. Dimensions are 15.5 in wide by 4.4 in deep by 10.4 in high.

Who should use this and who should not

It suits administrators expanding I/O capacity on a DL380 Gen11 2U platform that requires the specific X8/X16/X8 riser configuration. Builders working with different server models, other chassis form factors, or alternative slot layouts cannot use this kit.

Deciding specification

The defining specification is the X8/X16/X8 PCIe slot configuration matched to the HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen11 2U chassis. Only systems that list this exact riser compatibility will accept the part.

Questions about this item

Will the riser kit's PCIe slots need replacement after extended use?

The riser kit is a passive board with no moving parts, so no slot replacement is expected under normal server operation.

What physical limit appears first when the DL380 Gen11 runs sustained workloads with this riser installed?

The 15.5 in x 4.4 in x 10.4 in dimensions fix the card length and height envelope; longer or taller add-in cards simply will not fit.

Does the riser kit add audible noise or extra heat when the server runs all day?

The kit itself has no fans and draws no power, so it adds no noise or heat beyond the cards you plug into it.
