A 1U rack server with two Xeon Silver 4116 CPUs, 384GB DDR4 memory, a Smart Array P408 controller and eight 2.5-inch drive bays
The HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 packs two 12-core Intel Xeon Silver 4116 processors at 2.1GHz into a 1U rack chassis with 384GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. Eight 2.5-inch SFF bays connect through an HPE Smart Array P408 SAS controller while dual 500W Flex Slot power supplies provide redundancy. Integrated iLO Advanced remote management and a quad-port Intel I350/X540 network adapter with two 10GbE and two 1GbE links complete the platform for virtualization or database workloads.
Moving from a single-processor server or from CPUs with fewer than 12 cores per socket doubles thread count and expands the memory ceiling to 3TB across 24 DIMM slots. The jump is worthwhile when licensing costs scale per socket and the workload can saturate 24 cores with parallel tasks such as hypervisor hosts, in-memory analytics or multi-tenant container clusters. Buyers who need more than 8 drive bays or GPU acceleration should evaluate larger chassis options.
Dual 500W power supplies and the 1U airflow design keep both Xeon Silver 4116 processors at base frequency during extended compute runs without throttling. The P408 controller maintains consistent SAS and SATA throughput for mixed read-write streams while iLO Advanced provides continuous health telemetry. Memory bandwidth scales linearly with all 24 DIMM slots populated, avoiding the bottlenecks seen in partially filled configurations.

The unit is 36 inches wide, 24 inches deep and 10 inches high; allow extra depth for cables and airflow when mounting in a standard rack.
Install the 8SFF backplane and connect it to the Smart Array P408 SAS controller; the backplane cables are the step most often missed.
Plan to swap the 500W Flex Slot units after roughly five years of continuous duty or if a redundant supply fails.
