HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen9 4LFF server

This 1U rack server ships with two Xeon E5-2660v3 processors, each running at 2.6 GHz with ten cores and 25 MB cache. The system includes 512 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory, expandable to 768 GB. It targets organisations that need dense compute and large memory capacity in a single rack unit without pre-installed drives.

Dual 500 W power supplies

Two hot-plug 500 W Flex Slot power supplies provide redundancy while the P440 SAS controller manages up to four 3.5-inch SATA bays. Integrated Intel I350 and X540 network adapters deliver two 10 GbE and two 1 GbE ports. The iLO Advanced remote-management engine allows out-of-band monitoring and firmware updates without physical access.

No drives or rail kit included by default

The chassis arrives without storage drives, letting you populate the four LFF bays with the exact SATA capacity required. Rail kits are available on request rather than bundled. Every unit undergoes full diagnostics, burn-in testing and BIOS or firmware updates to the latest stable release before it leaves the facility.

Questions about this item

How do I install the Xeon E5-2660v3 processors into the DL360 Gen9 sockets?

Align the notches on each CPU with the socket keys, lower the load plate gently, and secure the lever. The step most people skip is cleaning old thermal paste and applying a fresh pea-sized dot before mounting the heatsink.

Which components in the HPE DL360 Gen9 will need replacement after several years of operation?

The 500 W Flex Slot power supplies and system fans are the first field-replaceable units to wear out. DDR4 ECC DIMMs and the P440 controller rarely fail, but keep spare drive carriers for the 3.5" bays.

What thermal limit appears first when both Xeon E5-2660v3 CPUs run at 2.6 GHz continuously?

The 500 W power supply rating is reached before the heatsinks saturate, so sustained full-load operation across all 10 cores per socket will trigger power throttling first.
