HPE DL380 Gen9 8SFF dual Xeon server

This 2U rack server ships with two Xeon E5-2697 v4 processors running at 2.3GHz and 384GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. The eight-bay 2.5-inch chassis supports SATA and SAS drives through the installed Smart Array P440 controller. Integrated iLO remote management and dual 500W power supplies are included.

Suits virtualisation hosts needing high core

The 36 total cores and 384GB capacity fit dense VM workloads or database caching. Buyers who need more than two sockets or memory beyond 3TB should consider a different platform. The chassis is limited to eight 2.5-inch bays so storage-heavy deployments may require external enclosures.

384GB DDR4 ECC registered memory installed

This exact capacity determines how many virtual machines or how large an in-memory dataset the server can handle today. The system board accepts up to 3TB when all DIMM slots are populated. Memory type is fixed to DDR4 so only matching modules can be added later.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the two Xeon E5-2697 v4 processors and 384 GB of DDR4 memory are recognised after installation?

During POST the iLO console will display both 18-core CPUs running at 2.3 GHz and the full 384 GB of registered ECC DDR4; the iLO dashboard also shows real-time health and memory status once the OS loads.

What components ship with the server and which items such as drives or rails must be ordered separately?

The chassis includes two 500 W Flex Slot power supplies, the P440 SAS controller, an Intel I350/X540 quad-port network card with two 10 GbE and two 1 GbE ports, and 384 GB of DDR4; 2.5-inch drives and the rail kit are not included and must be purchased separately.

Which drive capacity should I select for the eight 2.5-inch bays when using the P440 controller?

The P440 supports SATA SSDs or HDDs; choose capacities that fit your RAID layout and the 7.68 TB maximum logical volume the controller can present to the operating system.
