48-port Smart Rate PoE switch

The HPE Aruba Networking 6300L provides 48 Smart Rate ports that negotiate 100M, 1G, 2.5G and 5G speeds with Class 6 PoE up to 60W each. Four SFP ports add 1G, 10G, 25G and 50G uplinks for aggregation. Layer 2 switching includes static routing, QoS, ACLs and User-Based Tunnelling for Dynamic Segmentation. Stacking supports up to 10 members for simplified management.

Thermals and power draw

Two field-replaceable, hot-swappable power supply slots accept JL086A, JL087A or JL670A units; one supply is required to operate. Maximum PoE power delivery reaches 2880W across all ports. A quad-core Arm Cortex-A72 processor at 1.8GHz with 8GB DDR4 and 32GB eMMC handles the 580Mpps forwarding rate. The 16MB shared packet buffer absorbs bursts without head-of-line blocking.

Build quality and daily use

USB-C console and USB Type-A host ports give direct local access for scripting or firmware updates. An out-of-band management port keeps control traffic separate from data. Hot-swap power supplies let you replace a unit without downtime. PoE standards 802.3af, 802.3at and 802.3bt cover legacy phones, wireless APs and newer 60W devices on the same infrastructure. Buyers who need Layer 3 routing or more than 10 units in a single stack should evaluate other platforms.
